Our chapter is Yuma Arizona's newest veterans organization having begun on the first day of Tet in the year 1999. We have our meetings at 7:00 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. The meetings are held at the American Legion Clubhouse at 1490 W. 3rd Street in Yuma at cross streets 3rd Street and 15th Avenue. If you are interested in joining, you need only show proof through a DD-214 that you served on active duty or in the Reserves during the Vietnam War from 1960 through 1975. This also means that if you were in the service only, that does qualify you to become a member of VVA-835. The Yuma Chapter pays its respects to all Vietnam era veterans who died in the Yuma area and presents the families with a memorial plaque of their service. Vietnam Veteran's of America members say "Welcome Home" to each other at all their ceremonies since Vietnam vets did not get much of a welcome home 30 years ago. Come join and be part of your heritage... we celebrate our service every day. Interested in HOW to grow your chapter, click this link for some ideas and thoughts as was discussed at the January 24, 2009 quarterly meeting in Laughlin, NV.
Our MissionThe Yuma Chapter publishes a monthly newsletter, participates in two annual Parades, several Memorial Day ceremonies, active in color guard ceremonies, funerals, scholarships for veterans' children and overseeing the homeless or less fortunate Vietnam veteran family. We also assist veterans that need health benefits, those is need of food and other sustenance of life.
